A full system includes the exhaust manifold, downpipes, catalytic converters, resonators, mufflers, and the various hangers and flex joints that hold it all together and absorb engine vibration.

The most common exhaust issue we see on BMWs in Arkansas isn't rust from road salt the way it is up north — it's cracked flex pipes and failed hangers from age and heat cycling, along with the occasional cracked exhaust manifold that causes a ticking noise on cold start and can trigger a check engine light. We also field a growing number of calls about catalytic converter theft, which has become common on BMWs nationally because of the high value of the precious metals inside the converter. If your BMW suddenly sounds dramatically louder overnight, that's often the reason.

Diagnosing an exhaust problem correctly matters, because a leak upstream of the catalytic converter behaves very differently than a leak downstream, and the wrong repair can mean a comeback visit or a check engine light that never actually gets resolved. We inspect the full system, identify exactly where the leak, crack, or failure point is, and repair or replace only what's actually needed rather than pricing out a full system replacement by default.
